Rock Revetments

Enhancing Flood Protection for Hutt City

As the client-side Project Manager for Greater Wellington, we’ve been leading flood protection improvements along Te Awa Kairangi / the Hutt River in Lower Hutt.

Part of this scope includes constructing rock revetments on the river berms to provide erosion protection for critical infrastructure adjacent to the river edge.

Holmwoods has led the end-to-end delivery of these works, starting with overseeing the design development, obtaining required consent approvals, managing a public procurement process to select a specialist Riverworks contractor.

Holmwoods then performed the construction delivery oversight to ensure a successful completion. Managed under a NZS 3910 measure and value contract, our team provided comprehensive oversight, contract administration, and project advice, ensuring that every aspect was executed flawlessly.

This project is part of the wider Riverlink programme tasked with enhancing flood protection from a one-in-65-year event to a one-in-440-year event, once the remaining components of Riverlink are completed.

We’re proud of the role we’ve played in the delivery of this vital infrastructure project, and below we have linked a video with one of our team explaining a bit more about Rockline construction.

Holmwoods have been retained by GW to help them plan the next phases of flood defence for Te Awa Kairangi, so watch this space for more exiting projects.
